Our History
Feed My Lamb Kabarole (FMLK) is a community driven non-profit, non-governmental organization that is certified and dedicated to instilling value and skills to our community. Our emphasis is to motivate communities and the younger generation, empowering them to be innovative and self-sustaining through life skills, training, formal education and knowledge. We are providing community support for our orphans, disadvantaged street and marginalised children through our primary school.
After which they have the opportunity to attend our Vocational Education Programme which presently offers hairdressing, tailoring and a wide range of agricultural activities and which is soon to expand to include carpentry, bread – making, adult literacy and community counselling.
Our efforts, focus and heart are on building healthy families, which in turn establishes a healthy and independent community.
The meagre beginning was found under the tree for a classroom, shaded from the elements of sun and rain. Teaching children took place using the ground and tree limbs for the chalkboards of lessons. After that time, St. Nicholas World Development Group started supporting Feed My Lamb in the Naguru slums over ten years ago helping the most vulnerable children. Father Patrick visited the slums and found the teachers in a one room class with 150 street and orphaned children and proclaimed, there is no way to sustain this model without the assistance of others.
The need to educate, to feed and house the children was overwhelming with Uganda school fees being impossible to provide for so many children. Later, land was gifted to Feed My Lamb, and St. Nicholas World Development Group chose to provide for this much-needed effort and built the school structures, proving desks, food and clothing, toiletries, salaries and much love. Continuing efforts include the equipment and supplies for the vocational school which has tailoring, hairdressing and bakery started with other skill educational opportunities in progress.
At Feed My Lamb Kabarole you will not only see our orphans from the Naguru slums, you will witness our fish farming, piggery, goats and other livestock. Today you will see children in the classrooms and at lunch with fresh produce right from the school property gardens. The children are growing, learning, happy, healthy, with hope and opportunities for a better future.
