Computer Training Project

Digital Literacy

Computer training is an important factor not only in the 21st century workplaces, but also in everyday life. The importance of computer training for our students and community is to introduce them to computer applications that make themselves more valuable to potential employers. We want our students to learn not only computer applications, our goal is to have hands-on computer repair skills which are a demanded in the job market.

Plans include constructing a computer-training lab on site, utilizing valuable computer knowledge and skills for students, teachers and local community residents whom are interested. Computers increase access to technology and the world for those in the village. Many people in our community have never had an opportunity to lay hands on a computer; experiencing applications and internet technologies will open a new world for our municipality.

Offering a world of learning possibilities

Our computer training courses will target school teachers and students first, followed by the community businesses and interested residents. We will start with ‘Introduction to the Computer’. As skill levels improve basic packages that much of the world takes for granted like Microsoft word, excel and many others will be introduced. Internet access is critical, as we see global and rural technology improve we will seek grants and partners to help obtain these technologies for our communities.

You can help by donating a computer or computers to the school.

The future is unlimited as we see computers on the horizon for FMLK, positively influencing students’ lives and those in Gweri and the surrounding communities.
